Hello Need major help with one of my rats. I've got 3 males all from the same litter, now about a year old. I noticed right away that one wasn't particularly affectionate and didn't want much company which is fine. But he started to get more and more aggressive. Now he bites any bare skin I have when he is out (but still let's me pick him up) and with the other two he can get very aggressive, with puffed out fur and sideling up to them. There is also a lot of boxing and squeaks, but hasn't been any blood. The other two have started to be aggressive back and I'm worried they will just continue to get more stressed, especially as the other two seem to have started hiding from him on me. He is worse with the dominant rat and is fine half the time with the other one. I have taken him to the vet and he is perfectly healthy. Should I put him in hi own cage of will this make him worse? Thanks

Definitely. I'm willing to bet your other boys would go back to being more docile, and he might chill out too if on his own. My female is fine on her own, I can't set her near another female rat without her viciously attacking them... She doesn't bite people though. I've also had a male rat neutered over his extreme aggression (I was bitten while trying to separate two males fighting) and he quickly became soft and docile. One of the best rats I've ever owned! I'd be more worried about his aggression towards you. Maybe if separated he won't feel the need to be so dominating.
I'm no expert, but I sure have owned a lot of rats!
